Angela Buttrey is a professional Performer,
Instructor, and Choreographer with over 25
years of experience. A native of Greece, she
currently tours various countries each year,
such as Egypt and Turkey, to learn more so she
can teach the fabulous styles of this beautiful
art form and be a stronger and more
knowledgeable performer.
Angela began living her dream when she
arrived in the United States in the early 1970s,
and started performing professionally and
teaching others the art of belly dancing. She
maintained a demanding schedule performing
at nightclubs and restaurants, and teaching
classes, both here and abroad, appearing on
TV, and producing shows throughout the 80s
and early 90s featuring her dance company,
known at that time as the "Arabian Delites."
Angela’s efforts produced beautiful dancers
throughout the country. Remarkably, she
managed to do all of this while raising a
family! She considers herself very lucky to
have worked with some of the best Arabic and
Greek bands in Los Angeles and to open the
show for many well known Greek and Middle
Eastern singers.
Angela’s dance company, which was renamed
"1000 and 1 Nights Entertainment,” worked
closely with the Arabic and Mediterranean
communities, and quickly became the most
sought after dance troupe in Los Angeles.
While Angela currently divides her time
between Greece and Los Angeles, her dance
company is available for special engagements,
parties and events.
Growing up in a strict Greek family, where she
was only permitted to dance at family
gatherings, Angela was inspired by her Greek-
Turkish aunties who spoke of how they saw a
spirit in her during her dancing that brought
joy, happiness and tears to the eyes of people
who watched her dance. Specializing in
Egyptian and Turkish styles, which are
authentic and versatile, she fully understands
the nuances and expression of each form. Her
formal dance training, combined with her free
spirit and soulful expression makes her dance
style very unique and a delight to watch. She
is very proud to have been compared to some
of the famous legendary dancers of Egypt.
Angela teaches in Los Angeles, Torrance and
Westchester. Not only will you have fun in her
classes, you will become a dynamic and
passionate dancer. She is also available to
teach master workshops and to coach
beginner to advanced dancers on becoming a
great entertainer. Angela also teaches,
performs, produces her famous
choreographies, and offers a variety of
workshops throughout Greece. She also
sponsors tours to Greece and Egypt, as well as
workshops for other famous teachers of Raqs
Sharqi.

Get up on your toes, raise your ribcage, hold yourself up tall and travel, float, around the stage, creating an eye contact with everyone in the audience. Give them a bright smile! You'll capture them!!” |
