This class, for intermediate and advanced players, focuses on contemporary Turkish split-hand technique for darbuka and how to achieve fluidity using this dynamic style. Modern Turkish technique integrates a heavy North Indian influence into darbuka playing, but in a unique fashion which lends itself very well to self-expression. This class aims to break the mystery surrounding these techniques, and present a series of exercises and ideas to serve as a foundation for obtaining proficiency in Turkish split-hand darbuka. This class will involve intense drills and aims to provide six months to a years' worth of practice material.

Basic background for Turkish darbuka/Non-dominant hand split-hand exercises/Dominant hand split-hand exercises/Using split-hand techniques with both hands/The Turkish 'long roll' or 'triplet roll'/Paradidles using split-hand techniques/Tihai patterns for darbuka using both Arabic and Turkish techniques
