Pleasant Gehman

Whether you call it “cutting a deal”, “making an arrangement” or just plain old bargaining, great negotiating skills are a part of everyday life.

Subtle technique for influencing gaining leverage during negotiations

Your strongest “bargaining chips”

How to create contracts and contract riders

Ways to get “perks” and freebies and free promotion

For over forty years, Pleasant Gehman has been a crackerjack negotiator, both as a seller and a buyer for her own creative services as well as those of other artists.
As a teenager in the late 1970’s she worked under Toby Mamis, manager for Blondie and The Runaways; she was also Hollywood International Talent, with a client list that included Van Halen, Ratt, Black Flag and many others. At this time, she also produced a series of punk rock shows at the legendary Whisky A Go-Go, featuring by The Go-Go’s and The Germs among others.

During the 1980’s, she was the chief booker for two of LA’s most influential punk/ alternative clubs, Cathay De Grande and Raji’s, contracting artists like Nirvana, Hole, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins to play the venues. From 1985 through 1995, along with partner Iris Berry, she produced several large scale benefit shows at The Roxy and The Palace (now the Avalon) featuring headliners like Jim Carroll, Babes In Toyland, and the last appearance of The Gun Club. During this time, she also self-booked her band The Screaming Sirens on several cross-country tours in North America.

From the 1990’s to the present, Pleasant has produced a number of dance, variety, literary and visual art shows at theaters, nightclubs, galleries, private parties and corporate events. Since the early 2000’s, she has booked and negotiated contracts for all of her own appearances worldwide.
