MAS presents Weekend with Neena Nour

MAS is thrilled to have world famous Neena Nour for a full weekend of workshops and performance. Neena will be the special guest artist for theLos Angeles Raqs Summer Hafla: Raqs Sharqi Friday, July 21st, 2017 at MAS. Then offering three workshops over the weekend~

Saturday, July 22nd, 2017
4:00-6:30pm Modern Lebanese
Neena Nour has worked as a dancer in a number of countries including Egypt and Lebanon. She will be sharing her work experience, how to transition from an Egyptian base to a Lebanese style with you in this workshop session. Neena was working in some of the top hotels in the Middle East. With her experience she can help you understand how to dance to Lebanese music in your performances. We will be during some technique and small choreography. This can help you be more well rounded as a dancer and increase your tips and the amount of work that you do. Lebanese music is well loved in the arabic world. Even if you are more of a stage dancer or love being apart of the dance community, this is another mezze on the table of dance to enjoy.

7:00-8:30pm American Bellydancer in the Middle East lecture
Neena Nour is a now local Belly Dancer who has followed her dreams. Her adventures led to performed in luxury hot spots in various countries such as: Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt to name a few. In this lecture Neena will share the difference in culture and how it is to adjust to it. Also, working as a dancer with all the joys and the down falls that come with "live the dream”. The difference in the countries and the people that you deal with. The difference between short term contacts and living in the different countries. Certain things you will need to dance around so to speak, to get to where you want to go. The littlest thing can make a large impact on the outcome of your career in the middle east.

6:00-8:00pm Khaliji Bellydance fusion
Neena Nour was also based in Dubai UAE for many years as a traveling belly dancer. Because of being in that region, as a Belly Dance artist you are expected to add Khaliji to your show. It isn’t the normal boring slow folk dance, they like their dancers to dance fast. Khaliji can be miss understood easy because of the syncopation. In this workshop we going over how to hear the music and fine where to step and how to layer certain raqs sharki movements. We will be during some technique and a small choreography. This workshop is perfect for dancers who need to slip in and out of styles of music in the routine. Rather you have a 30 min set list or a 7 min stage routine and you need to add a different flare Khaliji can be exciting.
