Taji is known for her fluidity and her expressive
interpretation of Middle Eastern music. She
used these talents to win the Bellydancer of
the Universe Contest--Universal Style. This
involves performing to live music which
includes 4/4, 6/8, 9/8 and a drum solo as the
final of the event (music not heard before).
This is to replicate the early 70's and 80's
dancers experience of being ready for
anything!!!

Taji started dance classes as an adult and
studied seriously modern, ballet, jazz, musical
theater, and choreography. When she found
Belly Dance, she found a place to explore
feminine power in performance. There is
always something more to learn: improvisation,
costume design, a never ending supply of
types of bellydance /folkdance. The dancers
you meet and work with along the way are
wonderful friends.

Taji has performed all over the West Coast
including Oregon, Rakkasah, Mendocino
Dance and Music Camp, Arab television,
conventions, parties, nightclubs, bellydance
events and many restaurants in the Los
Angeles and San Diego area.

Taji performs as half of "Bellydancers
Extraordinare" with her good dance friend
Marlena.   She performs at Babouch Restaurant
on Thursday nights (call for reservations,
310-831-0246).  Taji also performs at Khoury's
Restaurant in Long Beach on Wednesday
nights as a soloist and also in groups.
Taji's Tip:

"Whenever you have a chance
to dance to live music---try
it---it always teaches you
something--even if it's only
how to look calm when you are
struggling. We all struggle w/
something as we dance.  "

Taji's classes in Long Beach combine fun and
technique in an American Cabaret style. Taji
specializes in starting beginners on the basics,
teaching zills to the intermediate students and guiding
the dancers to perform to live music. Dancing to live
music can be practiced at Khoury's Restaurant on
Wednesdays. The classes also cover muscle
strengthening, veil work, Persian, Turkish and Fusion.
She is presently learning more Egyptian technique that
she is passing on to her classes also. Her intermediate
class includes a performing troupe "The Joharah
Dancers". Taji can work with you to help stage show
performances as part of a private lesson.
